Wednesday morning federal and state wildlife agents raided a large, illegal marijuana grow in the Stone Lake National Wildlife Refuge in Sacramento County near Elk Grove.

It came down to one vote Tuesday as the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors voted 3-2 to ban commercial marijuana grows in unincorporated Santa Cruz County.

Drug agents raided the home he was renting just a block away from an elementary school and discovered an elaborate indoor pot growing operation.

Neighbors had no idea what was happening inside a two-story Salinas house.

A 35-year-old man is behind bars and accused of growing hundreds of marijuana plants inside his east Salinas home.
