How Old is the Cannabis Plant?

You must need to login..!

Description

If you happened to come across someone who had unwittingly and totally accidentally grown a cannabis plant and you asked them how old the plant was, you’d probably get a reply along the lines of:

“I don’t really know, probably three or four months.”

Once you’ve explained the misunderstanding, the chances are they wouldn’t know how long cannabis has been around for, which is what you really meant.

Us Cannabis Experts have done a lot of research on this topic, and this is what we came up with – a potted version of the history of the cannabis plant, excuse the pun!

It was over 10,000 years ago that the first records of the hemp plant were recorded.
Hemp, as you know is the same plant species as the cannabis plant, they are both from the genus cannabis sativa and there is only one principal difference between them.

It was only with the passage of time that a distinction between the two was made.

While the hemp plant has high levels of CBD and low levels of THC, the cannabis plant is the opposite, with high levels of THC and low levels of CBD.

Thus, hemp was grown for its practical properties, which we cover in another video, and cannabis was cultivated for its hallucinogenic properties.

So, what we are simply trying to say is that way back, there was no differential between hemp and cannabis plants as they were one and the same thing, perhaps with shades of an identity crisis!

Do you have a more detailed history of the cannabis plant? We’d love to hear it. Do share it with us in the comment section below, and of course if you enjoyed this video make sure to subscribe to out channel so you too can become a cannabis expert!
