Marijuana is legal because of the timber industry. Hemp is a cheaper source for paper and other products. Big tycoons back in the day would have lost millions in timber if hemp was made legal. They made “reefer madness” to help ban it. If you ever seen it… its pretty dam funny.

Because marijuana is natural, they know if it was legal, anyone could grow it which would undermine their (pharmaceutical’s) profits, unlike their killer opiates. That’s why pharmaceuticals aren’t pushing for legalization. They don’t see a large profit margin given the ease with which anyone can by-pass their marked-up-for-profit product.
I don’t understand what the problem is. If someone needs Marijuana for medical reasons then they should be allowed to use it. The entire debate on making it legal creates an entirely new debate, though, where substance abuse comes into play. Yeah, Marijuana is safer than smoking a cigarette, but that cigarette doesn’t impair your mind like abusing Marijuana would. And sadly, we all know those types of people are out there waiting for that day.

medical prescribed drugs always has its downside, which results into more other drugs needed to be taken. something like weed, organic, might cause long term dmg for overuse, but i rather take that over taking a ton of medical drugs.
