Episode 6: Week 6 Grow Update, Sexing Seeds, Kashi Gold Top Dress Results & Preparing for Flower Transplants

In this episode of the BuildASoil 2×4 Series, Season 3, I came back with a full Week 6 update focused on seed sexing, plant health, and getting everything ready for the upcoming transplant into final containers.

I revisited the Cocoon genetics from Bodhi and checked in on how the plants responded after the recent top dress using Colorado Worm Company castings, Craft Blend, and Kashi Gold. I broke down the current growth structure, moisture management, and why the plants were showing noticeably stronger branching and overall vigor inside their one-gallon containers after those inputs.

The episode also went into the process of identifying plant sex during early maturity. I talked through what I was looking for when checking preflowers, and why some genetics can be tricky to read early on. I also explained how height, branching patterns, and overall structure can sometimes mislead growers before clear pistils actually show.

Along the way, I took a closer look at the Kashi Gold fungal activity forming across the soil surface. I explained how microbial life starts breaking down organic matter and why that visible biology is often a positive sign in living organic systems. I also covered watering strategy, proper moisture balance in small containers, and how the top dress helped maintain plant health leading into transplant.

Finally, I started laying the groundwork for the next phase of the grow by talking through transplant timing, cloning plans, canopy management, and whether I would flip to flower immediately after transplant or allow a short recovery veg. Overall, this episode was a practical walkthrough of managing plants through that critical transition from veg into flower in a living soil system.
