Episode 10: Week 10 Update, Plant Selection, Transplants & Preparing for Flower in Living Soil

In this episode, we continue Season 3 of the 2×4 Grow Tent series as we move into Week 10 and begin setting up the final run for flower. This stage focuses on plant selection, transplanting into final containers, and dialing in the living soil system for a smooth transition into bloom.

We start by reviewing the current grow progress after returning from being away, including how the plants responded during the weekend and how the living soil system maintained stability with minimal intervention. I break down what was observed in the clone tray, rooted cuttings, and how hardening off is managed to prepare plants for transplant and environmental transition.

From there, I walk through the full soil preparation and inoculation process using Rootwise, explaining how microbial inputs are introduced into pre-moistened soil and why proper moisture balance is critical before transplanting. We also cover how bottom feeding and top watering strategies can both be used to maintain healthy one-gallon plants during this stage.

The episode continues with the full build-out of the final containers, including EarthBox setup and 15-gallon living soil systems. I explain how sub-irrigated planters function, how drip rings are integrated in larger containers, and how cover crop and mulch layers are used to build a more dynamic living soil environment.

We then move into the final transplant process, including Cocoon and two Snow Lotus being moved into their final homes. I cover soil handling, root zone establishment, and how light adjustments immediately after transplant help reduce stress and support faster recovery.

Finally, we go over environmental setup considerations as we prepare for the transition into flower, including light scheduling, humidity expectations, and general plant management strategy moving forward into the next phase of the grow.

This episode is all about final preparation, transplanting, container setup, and dialing in the system before flipping into flower in a living soil environment.
