Episode 19: Day 53 Flower Update, Harvest Timing, Cocoon Fade & Silver Lotus Phenotypes

In this episode of Season 3 of the 2×4 Grow Tent Series, the garden reaches Day 53 of flower as the Cocoon and Silver Lotus move deeper into late flower and begin showing very different finishing timelines. With one plant approaching harvest and another potentially needing several more weeks, I compare how each cultivar is progressing and what I’m watching as they finish.

I begin with a full Day 53 flower update, checking the Cocoon in the EarthBox and both Silver Lotus phenotypes growing in 15-gallon containers with BluMat irrigation. The Cocoon appears to be on track for an eight-week finish, while the two Silver Lotus plants continue showing major differences in structure, color, flowering speed, and overall development.

Next, I take a closer look at the Cocoon as it begins fading from lime green toward yellow, with dense flowers and increasingly strong fuel and Kush-like aromas. I also compare the two Silver Lotus phenotypes, adjust the BluMat after noticing signs of excess moisture, and discuss how plant structure, flowering time, smoke quality, and ease of growing can all factor into choosing a keeper.

From there, I get some close-up shots of the flowers to better show their late-flower color, bud development, and the silver appearance of the Silver Lotus. With the plants nearing maturity, the differences between the faster-finishing phenotype and the longer-running Super Silver Haze-leaning plant are becoming increasingly clear.

Finally, I break down the expected harvest timeline, with one plant likely coming down around eight weeks while the other Silver Lotus may continue into Weeks 10 or 11. I also discuss final watering, opening up the tent once the first plant is harvested, and how keeping clones of promising genetics makes it easier to dial in future runs.
