Episode 14: Week 14 Series Update, Day 11 Flower Update, Canopy Management & PPFD Optimization

In this episode, Season 3 of the 2×4 Grow Tent series continues with the Week 14 series update as plants reach Week 2 (Day 11) of flower. I evaluate early flower development, compare the Cocoon and Silver Lotus cultivars, manage the canopy after stretch begins, and optimize lighting to prepare the garden for the remainder of the flowering cycle.

I begin with a Week 2 flower update, explaining why Week 13 was skipped and providing an overview of the current progress after 11 days of flower. I discuss the differences between the Cocoon and Silver Lotus genetics, how each cultivar expresses stretch differently, and why flowering speed, structure, and morphology can vary significantly even when plants are flipped on the same day.

Next, I tour both 2×4 tents, inspecting overall plant health, stretch progression, and irrigation performance. I check the EarthBox reservoir, monitor BluMat moisture levels, compare canopy development between the two growing systems, and explain how each irrigation method simplifies maintaining healthy living soil throughout early flower.

From there, I perform a full canopy management session by removing lower growth, cleaning up interior branches, supercropping taller shoots, balancing the canopy, and improving airflow. I explain how selective defoliation, lollipopping, and branch positioning help direct energy toward productive flower sites while creating a more even canopy for better light distribution.

Finally, I measure PPFD across both tents, evaluate current light intensity, and make environmental adjustments for early flower. I discuss temperature, humidity, lighting strategy, and why dialing in PPFD during the stretch phase helps maximize flower quality while avoiding unnecessary plant stress as bloom continues.
