Episode 13: Timer Failure, Reveg Recovery & Rebuilding the 10×10 Garden

In this episode of the BuildASoil 10×10 Series, Season 9 Episode 13, an unexpected timer failure completely changes the direction of the grow. After discovering the lights had been staying on when they should have been off, the plants began showing clear signs of reveg, forcing me to make a decision on how to move forward.

I start by showing exactly what happened, the reveg symptoms I’m seeing, and why I believe the AC Infinity smart plug was responsible for the lighting issue. I also explain why having backup clones becomes so valuable when something unexpected happens in the garden.

Rather than trying to force the entire garden back into flower, I remove the affected plants while saving one Blueberry Muffins to run as a reveg experiment under 12/12. This will give us a chance to follow its recovery and eventually compare the finished flower to plants grown through a normal flowering cycle.

From there, it’s time to rebuild. I transplant all seven backup Blueberry Muffins clones back into the living soil bed and introduce several new genetics into the garden. I reset the EarthBoxes, add fresh top dress, inoculate the root zones with Rootwise, and get the irrigation system running again without replacing the established living soil.

Finally, I check PPFD, adjust the lighting, and discuss how I’ll manage the new canopy as plants of different sizes begin growing together. What started as a frustrating setback quickly turns into a new experiment and an opportunity to see just how forgiving a well-established living soil system can be.
