Episode 11: Day 15 Flower Update, Clone Preservation, Mammoth PPFD Testing & EarthBox Top Dress

In this episode of the BuildASoil 10×10 Series, Season 9 Episode 11, I cover two major parts of the grow: preserving keeper genetics in the 2×4 tent and managing the 10×10 garden as it reaches Day 15 of flower.

I begin with a Week 11 update inside the cloning area, where I check on the rooted Blueberry Muffin, GMO, and Sour Diesel clones. I explain how I preserve potential keeper phenotypes while waiting for the flowering plants to finish, along with my long-term strategy for maintaining healthy mother plants without allowing them to outgrow the space.

Next, I transplant the rooted clones into small containers and explain the hardening-off process before they permanently leave the humidity dome. I also discuss why learning to preserve genetics through cloning is one of the most valuable skills for home growers who want to keep exceptional plants around for future runs.

From there, I head into the 10×10 flower room for a full Day 15 flower update, comparing the fast-finishing Blueberry Muffin phenotypes against the slower Lotus Larry replacement. I explain how different flowering speeds influence canopy development, future side-by-side testing, and why genetics play such a major role in light management and flowering timelines.

I also evaluate the canopy using PPFD measurements under the Mammoth Lighting fixture, discuss why I’m raising the fixture instead of simply dimming it, and explain how canopy penetration, leaf surface temperature, and light intensity all work together in a living soil system.

Finally, I prepare both EarthBoxes for the next stage of flower by applying a complete top dress using Build-A-Flower, Craft Blend, Kashi Gold, and Rootwise biology. I explain why timing is critical, how feeder roots respond to fresh organic inputs, and why I prefer feeding proactively before the plants begin showing signs of deficiency.
