Episode 2: Under-Canopy Lighting, PPFD & Irrigation Setup
The side-by-side grow continues, and this time I’m adding one of the biggest variables in the experiment: under-canopy lighting.
I install the Grandmaster Tarantula Volcano under-canopy lights for the first time, work through the mounting setup, and test different intensity levels while taking PPFD measurements to see exactly how much light is reaching the plant from below.
Then I get the irrigation systems ready for the comparison. I set up the BluMat sensor and drip tape on the 30-gallon Grassroots container and walk through the AutoPot Tray2Grow float valve and FlexiTank reservoir setup.
The plants are still getting established, so I’m not rushing the irrigation. As they recover from transplant and start taking off, we’ll be able to increase the lighting, activate the systems, and start seeing how these different setups perform side by side.
