If only the average joe could afford a closed loop system an the overpriced
concentrates sold by “medical” dispensaries. When it costs $10/gram or less
to produce oil/shatter, there is no justifiable reason to charge patients
$30+/gram. Unless people offer an affordable alternative, then
individuals/patients will open blast their own concentrates, due to the
cost of purchasing from a dispensary or black market dealer.

If “extract” artists and dispensaries are truly “patient based”, then
shouldnt AFFORDABLE medication be their first priority? If it wasn’t more
affordable to blast my own concentrates, I might purchase them, but
unfortunately the cost to purchase oil is more then 4x the cost of
production. When it costs $1/gram or less too produce cannabis and you get
a minimum of 2 and up to 7 grams of oil per ounce of cannabis. Going by
these numbers, it theoretically only costs $4-$14/gram or less to produce
cannabis oil, the higher the yield the lower the production cost. This
doesn’t factor in the labor and if you use a closed loop system you recover
98%+ of the butane used and thus the butane expense is almost non existent
and a one time purchase. Realistically, there is no reason that cannabis
oil and concentrates aren’t selling for prices closer to $20-$30/gram
retail, except for peoples greed and wanting to make lots of money from not
a ton of work.

Im using conservative estimates, growing in a greenhouse with supplemental
lighting, you can grow cannabis for pennies on the gram and produce oil for
$4/gram or less.
