Can GOP steal marijuana issue by supporting legalization? More marijuana videos at bit.ly Agreement on legalizing marijuana was bipartisan on last week’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” where the panel included both Democratic California Lt. Gov Gavin Newsom and Republican Steve Schmidt (who was senior campaign strategist for presidential candidate John McCain) as well as musician Snoop Lion, formerly Snoop Dogg, but Bill Maher’s suggestion that Republican steal the marijuana legalization issue coul

The Republican party has lost a lot of face in the last year, the election was not kind to their brand. If they want to make a dent in the Democratic stranglehold on the youth vote, this would be one way to do it. Claim it’s for smaller government, claim it’s for personal responsibility, claim it’s better for the economy…there are so many ways to approach this issue it’s ridiculous to still oppose it.
Common sense is what we need on the so-called “War on Drugs”.
decriminalization = lessening of penalties, such as reducing the penalties from jail time to simple fines and warnings
legalization = you don’t get in trouble for it at all
Marijuana is a loosing issue. The republican politicians that only want to win will buckle and switch in favor of it leaving the self absorbed extremists behind. It is possible that no more of that type will be welcome in that party and those who is already in will get phased out to save the overall party.
Republicans was not about values but winning.
I don’t care whose issue it is, just do it.
From what i have heard and seen; if you line their pockets, they will come. It just has to be larger than the opposing sponsor.
The Repblicans need to become more libertarian, so yes they should
The Republicans can try to steal the issue, but it wouldn’t work. As soon as Dems see it gaining any kind of ground they’ll pounce on it and pretend they were in favor of legalization all along.
They COULD but wont.
I think so. Liberal Democrats have been on a ‘government should decide what you can have and can’t have’ kick lately.
Snoop rocks
the end.
Yeah, he made a bet with his kid a long time ago that if he did something, he’ll put his kid in all of his videos, hence his kid does the intro
@LiberalViewer Could you please do a video on the differences of decriminalization or legalization and which should pot be placed under and why? Thanks.
Fuck the democrats and fuck the republicans, this two party rule is fucking cancer to our country, it’s stagnating our government. Hell, many(most) americans don’t even know that there is more than two parties, the media tries to push it that it’s mandated somewhere that there should only be two parties. Third parties rarely ever get a mention, and sometimes are even blatantly ignored. These two parties are killing “real” democracy
Snoop dawgie dawg… big cat.
When it comes to marijuana legalization, I don’t like that it is made into a political issue. It is most definitely more of a social issue. But I do agree that if Republicans, no matter their motive, want to push for marijuana legalization, or at least decriminalization, they should be encouraged to. The same for Democrats and parties in between. Marijuana has been becoming more accepted socially and politically on the state level. All we need is one good push from all sides.
You’re not watching this on Youtub?
They can, and they should, but will they? probably not.
is that the voice of your son in the intro?
The Libertarians(Republicans who think they are revolutionaries) have already pretty much stolen the issue. They have appeared reasonable and thoughtful by supporting legalization, covering their economic barbarism and lack of reality based social planning.
