It is unproven that smoking most things (tobacco is obviously proven though) is bad for the lungs. There is a lot of misinformation out there to protect anti-narcotic legislation.

Smoking anything not organic is bad for the lungs. If you breathe in smoke from a burning log that is just 100% wood, no damage will be done. Smoking out of things can of course make you inhale more then just weed. Using vaporisers makes it 99.9% harmless to your lungs.
