Episode 01: Seed Selection, Germination Setup & Starting the Season Right

In this episode, we officially kick off Season 3 of the 2×4 Grow Tent series. This run is all about helping new growers follow along step-by-step, starting from the very beginning with seed selection, germination, and setting up a simple, repeatable system.

I walk through the genetics we’re popping for this season, including some older seed packs with a lot of history behind them. We talk about why these strains were chosen, what to expect from them, and how genetics can influence structure, terpene profile, and overall plant behavior in living soil.

From there, we break down the full 2×4 tent setup, including the side-by-side approach using EarthBoxes and 15-gallon living soil pots. I explain why both systems are great options for growers and how automatic watering systems like Blumat can simplify the process as the plants mature.

We also go deep into seed germination. I demonstrate how to use coco coins, aloe water, and simple humidity domes to create a consistent environment that’s beginner-friendly and highly repeatable. This method helps reduce common problems like damping off and overwatering while giving seeds the best possible start.

Finally, I show the exact process for planting seeds into coco coins, labeling trays, orienting seeds properly, and setting expectations for germination timing.
